The 3rd Battle of Tebessa

March 6, 2004, at Eudemonia

The all-too-familiar map of Tebessa.

The first of a series of Axis bombing attacks keeps the US and French on their toes.

More bombing, with little effect on the defenders of Tebessa.

A probing attack by German motorized infantry.

More German bombing.

US armored infantry enters the board. French troops cheer.

Remnants of German motorized infantry, plus Falschirmjager, on the Axis left flank.

A lone Italian Semovente opens up with special ammo on advancing US tanks.

US armored infantry companies form up behind a smoke screen.

One of a series of ground attacks by the Luftwaffe. All are beaten back by heavy AA fire.

Italian AT gun positions in front of US attack.

French troops in the attack. Finally!

US M3 Lee tank battalion move up with French infantry in support.

Italian infantry battalion rips into French infantry, but the Italians are wiped out by M3 Lees.

Italian field gun on Axis left flank fires into the M3 Lees and knocks out a platoon's worth.

Lees and French infantry attack the middle.

German support units deploy, but are met with withering artillery barrages. The Axis withdrew from Tebessa soon after.

These fine fellows just can't keep still.

Very hard on the old digital.
